The brief for this small Malvern garden was to provide a real garden while keeping maintenance to a minimum.
The client had to be able to maintain this herself and it couldn’t be cottagey.
Less plants doesn’t necessarily equal lower maintenance. A refined palette of robust plants was key.
Pavers with ground cover between, still act as a solid usable surface; welcoming the dining setting. It’s also practical for pets, children and high traffic.
Here we extended on a ‘traditional Malvern’ palette – nothing too out there and used en mass for impact. Perfect against the contemporary addition by Figure Ground Architecture.
