Brighton

Year
2016
Location
Brighton, Victoria

This elegant and lush Brighton garden is one of our favourites. An understated entry and single storey residence offers a snippet of what lies beyond.  Fine foliaged Gleditsia canopies rise up beyond the front brick wall while a generous oversized deck connects to the front living room – creating an outdoor living/entertaining space that still feels private.

With a renovated pool, entertaining space and trampoline sunken into the lawn area, this contemporary linear space is perfect for a young active family.  A Jacaranda planted within the deck has developed into a garden centre piece.  The large entertaining space includes a custom built BBQ and bench seating, while a verdant cantilevered pergola with subtle hanging lights creates a space which can be enjoyed at all times of the day.

The continuous decking wraps around the pool providing casual seating and lounging for sun lovers.  Like the driveway, narrow garden spaces can still be layered using canopied trees, Boston Ivy up fences and a lower storey of planting.  Bringing trees into the deck space can also extend the feel of garden spaces without making it look smaller. Two years later it is looking as good as ever.
