This suburban garden of Melbourne needed to serve many masters. The brief to Scott Leung of Eckersley Garden Architecture was to transform the existing unusable and overgrown grassed back yard into a place for entertaining and relaxation. With the rear of the house mainly glass, the view from the newly renovated interior into the garden space was integral to the overall success of the project.

As we rug up in winter warmers, the winter garden is undressing and exposing itself. Defoliating trees and climbers reveal the skeleton of the garden. Trunks and branches are revealed, this in turn reveals vistas and focal points that have been camouflaged by their foliage.
