Eckersley Garden Architecture offers a complete service from the initial client briefing to the project completion, ensuring the design is maintained and the client brief is fulfilled.
The design process is structured to allow for the evolution of the design and provides the client with the flexibility to dictate the level of detail the project requires. E-GA tailors the design process to suit the needs of each client and the individual project requirements.
E-GA conducts an initial free of charge consultation with the client and/ or architect to discuss the brief, requirements, and the project budget. It is during this consultation a client wish list is collected and the designer’s vision is discussed. A fee proposal is then presented to the client for approval.
During the schematic design stage a documentation analysis of the site is undertaken. The project site is measured, photographed and the existing conditions are noted. E-GA develops a design concept based on the brief provided by the client. The plan, along with a material and plant pallet, is presented to the client and/or architect in our office.
If required, E-GA can provide the client with a cost estimation based on the plans produced in the Schematic Design stage. The construction elements are itemized to provide a clear outline for the overall landscape budget.
During this stage, E-GA refines the design concept for the garden and develops the design further. Detailed drawings of the garden are produced including a full landscape, surface, layout and planting plan. Accompanying the plans are design detail drawings and a full landscape specification of materials, plants, furniture and lighting. E-GA presents the design development documentation to the client and/or architect in our office for final approval.
Planning Permit Plans
If required, E-GA can prepare plans to submit to council for approval on behalf of the client. During this stage, E-GA discusses the need for permits, submits the plans with the application and will respond to any questions or requests from the council.
The design documentation package can then be tendered out to recommended contractors for pricing. E-GA brief and liaise with the contractors ensuring you receive an open and competitive tender. E-GA then presents the final quotations with the client to assist selecting the appropriate contractor for the project.
Throughout the construction process E-GA can visit the site as required to ensure the design intent is maintained and the work is of a high standard. E-GA can oversee the preparation of contract documentation by external consultants where building permits are required.
It is during Contract Administration, E-GA offers a plant management service which includes plant refinement, sourcing, order and a plant placement service. E-GA can also provide advice on the future maintenance of the garden and recommend a suitable and reliable gardener to manage the ongoing maintenance.
Throughout the design process, E-GA remains in constant communication with the client and/ or architect. Our personal approach ensures the client receives an individually tailored design which fulfils the project brief.
