Tropicana Throwback: Club Med circa ’87

Throwback to a job from 87′ – this South Melbourne garden has stood the test of time. There is nothing like a bit of tropicana to fight off the winter blues. So please sit back, relax, pour yourself a cocktail and enjoy!

This wonderfully tropical garden was designed by the one and only – Rick Eckersley – as pictured – looking particularly handsome with a dashing mo – a la┬áJohn Holmes.

Boundary plantings are a mix of European and Tropical – Boston Ivy provides a subtle green canvas that lets the Palms shine. Varying heights and textures creates layers and a rich mix of verdant greens – giving this inner-city home much needed peace and seclusion.

The palms tie in with the nearby beach and make for excellent screening; Tarzan would feel right at home. Cement smeared brickwork has proved to be a timeless choice.

Similarly the organic pool shape has stood the test of time – curves never go out of style and soften the hardscape.

The jungle fun continues – note the loveheart chairs! Good design stands the test of time and this slice of paradise proves it.
