This is a beautiful property that we just had to share with you. Currently in Design Development stage, this garden is about to receive the E-GA touch. The appeal of this property is not only the size and the heritage listed early 1900’s home, but also the block’s historical significance.
This a Walter Burley Griffin subdivision, where the streets were designed to follow with the contours of the land and the neighbouring property’s all back onto a communal park land. An ideal location and a great canvas for a landscape designer to work with.

It is always exciting when clients are not interested in increasing the footprint of the house, but instead keeping the expansive garden. The more room for garden and outdoor living, the more you have to play with in the design process.
This will be a ‘real’ garden.
It will be divided into different compartments to serve many functions and provide an element of discovery as you can see in the below concept plan. There will be mass plantings of mixed perennials, a woodlands of deciduous trees and simple planting of strapped leaf ground cover and bulbs. The seasonal changes will be glorious and the garden will evolve to become more and more beautiful over time.
Myles has carefully designed the garden to integrate with the architecture and structural elements of the property including existing pergola and the pool. He has also purposefully designed the garden to flow into the communal parkland from behind which will not only extend the garden visually, but also provide a smooth transition from the private to the public.
